Disciplinary Appeals Boards

About Us

The Disciplinary Appeals Boards was established under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 to hear and determine appeals in relation to decisions of the Secretary made under section 2.4.61 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 from officers or employees in the teaching service of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

The Disciplinary Appeals Boards is one of the independent statutory authorities associated with the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development's portfolio. The Disciplinary Appeals Boards will aim to support the achievements of Victorian Government intentions, expressed through legislation and Ministerial Orders.

Disciplinary Appeals Boards Outcomes

The Disciplinary Appeals Boards will achieve:

  1. the establishment of appropriate procedures and practices for the efficient operation of the Disciplinary Appeals' Boards
  2. effective handling of disciplinary appeals
  3. fair and equitable treatment for all applicants and ensure the principles of natural justice are adhered to throughout the hearing process

Lodging a Disciplinary Appeal

An application for an Appeal may be lodged by fax or mail.

To lodge an application by fax or mail please print and fill out the appropriate form:

To lodge an appeal under section 45A or section 74 of the Teaching Service Act 1981 use the TSA Appeal Application Form (Word - 115Kb).

To lodge an appeal under section 2.4.57 or section 2.4.68 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 use the ETRA Appeal Application Form (Word - 115Kb).

The application for an appeal must be signed and dated. The Disciplinary Appeals Boards (Word - 115Kb) procedures brochure will assist in lodging your appeal.

Please note that applications need to be lodged within 14 days after the date on which the appellant is given notice in writing of the determination.
